FOX43/SP&R Poll: Marijuana Legalization Assistance Lacking As Wolf Hops On Board

Gov. Tom Wolf voiced his assistance for marijuana legalization for adult recreational use in late September by saying a majority of Pennsylvanians would assistance the move immediately after detailing the outcomes from Lt. Gov. John Fetterman’s statewide tour on the subject, but new polling from FOX43/Susquehanna Polling and Analysis contradicts the tours outcomes.

48% of registered voters polled mentioned they opposed the legalization of recreational marijuana in Pennsylvania, even though 37% mentioned they assistance it and 15% stay undecided.

This poll surveying 650 registered voters in Pennsylvania, collected information from September 30 – October six, 2019, has a margin of error of +/-three.eight% at the 95% self-assurance level.

Democrats had been the biggest group polled for this survey with 47% registered with the celebration, despite the fact that only 22% identified as “liberal” or “progressive.” 40% polled had been registered Republicans and 10% mentioned they had been Independents. Though only 22% polled identified as “liberal” or “progressive,” 35% mentioned they had been moderate, and 31% deemed themselves conservative.

A majority of these polled, 55%, had been more than the age of 55 years old, with 32% of them getting 65 years old and up. The subsequent biggest demographic with 20% getting involving 45-54 years old, followed by 14% getting involving the ages of 30-44, and 10% who are 18-29 years old.

A Tale of Two Polls

A Franklin &amp Marshall College poll released in March 2019 showed that 59% supported the legalization of recreational marijuana, even though 34% opposed it and 7% saying they didn’t know. The final F&ampM poll that had marijuana assistance beneath 37%, which is the total released from SP&ampR now, was in June 2014, when 35% supported it. The initial F&ampM poll displaying a majority of Pennsylvanians supporting marijuana legalization was in Might 2017.

A different notable distinction when analyzing the marijuana numbers involving each polls is how the voters identified. Like today’s SP&ampR poll, 47% polled had been registered Democrats, which is larger than registered Republican total, despite the fact that 31% identified as liberal in the F&ampM poll, in comparison to the 22% identifying as “liberal” or “progressive” in today’s SP&ampR poll.

As component of Pennsylvania’s continued plans to expand gambling, would you assistance or oppose a new mini-casino in your regional location, a single that would be positioned significantly less than 45 minutes away? 1. Yes/assistance 232 36% two. No/oppose 341 52% three. Undecided 77 12%
