Authorities are cracking down on illicit vape producers due to the vaping-linked lung illness (VAPI) epidemic. To date, VAPI has hospitalized almost 1,400 men and women and killed at least 33. Public wellness officials do not know what’s causing VAPI, but they think black market place vape solutions, which are not lab tested for security, could be behind the VAPI outbreak.
E-cigarette solutions, THC vaporizing cartridges, and nicotine-infused “vape juices” are currentlly becoming investigated by the CDC and regional wellness officials. Widespread cutting or vape-juice thickening agents, along with heavy metal contamination, are also becoming deemed as culprits behind the VAPI epidemic.
Wednesday’s bust was significant, but it wasn’t the greatest black market place vape raid created so far. In September, Minnesota police seized almost $four million worth of illicit vape solutions from one particular household in Coon Rapids.
Earlier this month, Wisconsin police arrested a mother and her two sons who allegedly sold five,000 illicit THC vape cartridges per day.
