Maine requiring cannabis label for recreational items


Maine regulators adopted a symbol that will be essential on marijuana items sold for recreational use, beginning subsequent year.

The Maine Workplace of Marijuana Policy partnered with the Massachusetts Cannabis Manage Commission to unveil a shared universal symbol for cannabis and marijuana items.

The symbol, currently in use in Massachusetts, functions a red triangle with text reading, “CONTAINS THC.” THC is the active ingredient that produces marijuana’s higher.

Maine voters authorized legal adult-use marijuana at the polls in November 2016. But the road to legal sales has been extended and bumpy.

Adult-use marijuana is anticipated to be readily available in Maine retail retailers by March.

The 2019 Marijuana Small business Factbook projects that Maine’s MMJ sales will be flat this year at $20 million-$25 million.
